Have you discovered how to use the Pinterest guided search descriptive guides?

My blog today was going to be about shopping on Pinterest, however, I came across Pinterest Guided Search and felt compelled to blog about descriptive guides instead.....

I was searching for ‘House Plants’ on Pinterest at the week end and I’d not really paid any attention to the descriptive guide suggestions that came up at the top of the screen before. I was taking the time to search for exactly what I wanted to find, which is why I noticed them.

Guided Search

Have you used the ‘Guided Search’ on Pinterest? It's a great way to find whatever you're looking for.  Look at this Pinterest Video, it’s not too long.

It’s an amazing feature, therefore I wanted to blog about it!

And I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve used the 'Guided Search'! It’s great for exploring. I knew exactly what I was looking for, I was searching for House Plants, for the Living Room.

After I had entered ‘Plants’ into the search bar, I clicked on ‘Plants’ at the top of the list that came up and then noticed more descriptive guides running across the top of the screen. I didn’t have to scroll far as ‘Indoor’ was the first guide, so I clicked on that and another set of descriptive guides appeared.

I’m not sure how many more there were, as they went on and on. How awesome is this?

As I was looking for Indoor Plants for my Living Room, I clicked on the descriptive guide ‘Living Room’ and yet another set of descriptive guides appeared. So, you can be as specific as you want to be during your search, honing in to exactly what you are looking for. I found this really helpful. It made my search more interesting, especially when I clicked on the ‘Inspiration’ guide.

Now, I don’t want to mislead you as it appears some of the Pins are duplicated across the descriptive guide sections. However, I didn’t find this irritating, it enabled me to choose the look and feel that was most suitable for the spot where I wanted the plant for.

When I searched Pinterest Help for more information, they suggested “when it’s time for your next haircut, search by specific styles – for redheads, curly hair, layers – to find your next look.” I had no idea how this Pinterest ‘Guided Search’ worked, or how clever it was.

Consequently, I can honestly say this is the first time I’ve noticed this and I’ve been Pinning for years!!!! From what I can see it was launched back in 2014!

Discover a few unexpected surprises

This made me smile. Naturally the descriptive guides are set up to enable you to drill down to what you are looking for. Pinterest likes to have a little fun and in its blog, it mentions ‘the best part is leaving a little room for serendipity.’ I love serendipity.
